Jay Hall hails from the Great Lakes region of the Midwest. After a brief stint in New England after college, he headed west and settled in Phoenix, AZ where he has been involved in the art community for many years. He is currently focusing on his own work out of The Suncrest Building, a creative cooperative home to other artists, tinkerers and makers of things. Jay has experimented with many mediums including monoprinting, painting, photography, serigraphy, ceramics and digital printing. His influences are many, diverse and constantly changing citing his mom, Robert Rauschenberg, Sigmar Polke, Anselm Kiefer, Richard Serra, Stephen J. Gould, Camille Paglia, Frank Gehry, Wayne Coyne, Thomas Sowell, Peter Greenaway, Abraham Lincoln, Elvis* and his ex-wive's fathers for their input.
Jay has a BS in Geology from Beloit College, WI. He has participated in numerous shows in Phoenix, AZ, Santa Fe, NM and STL, MO.

"It's hard to put your finger on only a few people or events. You get older, experience different things, forget stuff and make new discoveries all the time. If someone asked me my 10 favorite songs now, the list would look a lot different than ten years ago. In art, I don't believe you’re chasing a ‘magnum opus' to end on but, in fact, on a journey; individual works are stepping stones to the next with backslides and tangents mixed in. You can count on creation's path will not be a straight line. The process, like wisdom, is a series of incomplete, interconnected exercises; learning more by failure than by success."
Jay Hall received a BS in Geology with emphasis in Art History from Beloit College, 1986.
